Adult Orthodontics
Orthodontics is commonly thought to be only for children. This is a misconception. Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile.
One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is an adult patient.

Common Reasons for Adult Orthodontic Treatment
Crooked Teeth: Crooked or misaligned teeth can make it harder to brush and floss adequately, which can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. Straightening your teeth with adult braces can also improve your smile’s appearance and boost your confidence.
Bite Problems: Bite problems can lead to jaw pain, chewing difficulties, speech problems, and other serious dental issues. Adult orthodontic treatment can correct these problems and help your jaw function properly.
Tooth Loss: Tooth loss can cause the remaining teeth to shift out of position. Orthodontic treatment can help move them back into their correct places and improve chewing function.
Overcrowding: Overcrowding refers to having too many teeth in too little space. This can make it harder to clean your teeth and increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Orthodontic treatment can create more space by gradually moving the teeth into their correct positions.
Gum Disease: Gum disease can cause your teeth to become loose, which can lead to tooth loss. Orthodontic treatment can help realign your teeth and make brushing and flossing easier, reducing the risk of gum disease and other oral health problems.

We are pleased to announce that traditional metal braces are now quite the fashion statement. Maybe that’s a bit overboard, but the experience of getting braces is greatly improved. The brackets are smaller and more precise, which considerably tones the look.
Consider Invisalign to get the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted — without braces. A complimentary consultation with Dr. Ries can determine if Invisalign Aligner is right for you.

Early Orthodontic Treatment for Children
Correcting Problems Early: help correct dental problems before they worsen over time. This can avoid the need for more extensive and invasive treatments in the future.
Creating Room for Permanent Teeth: Early treatment can help create more space for permanent teeth to erupt into position correctly.
Improving Bite Alignment: improve the alignment of the teeth and the bite. Proper alignment helps the jaws develop correctly, improving the bite and reducing the risk of future dental problems.
Improving Speech: improve speech issues caused by misaligned teeth.
Improvement in oral hygiene: Orthodontic treatment at a young age helps create better oral hygiene habits, which can have a positive impact on oral health throughout life.
Reducing the Risk of Trauma: correct dental conditions such as protruding teeth, which can reduce the risk of sports or other injuries to the mouth.
Boosting Self-Esteem: Early treatment can improve a child’s appearance, leading to increased self-esteem and confidence.

Your First Visit
At the first visit to our orthodontic office, diagnostic records are made to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical/dental history, clinical examination, photos of the patient’s face and teeth, and X-rays. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Dr. Ries will evaluate and review with you the records, treatment recommendations, and treatment length. If treatment is not needed at that time, you will be placed into our recall system to be evaluated at regular intervals between 6-12 months.
Please take a minute to print and fill out the patient information form before your first appointment and be ready for your journey to a healthy smile.
